Pluto, the best-known world of the Kuiper Belt, was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930 and explored by a single spacecraft: New Horizons, whose July 2015 flyby revealed nitrogen-ice plains, water-ice mountains, and the bright heart-shaped region that made the little world famous all over again.
